1. Procedures
(1) Kindly find the overall procedures of establishing a Korean branch of a foreign corporation:
Step1. Notification of branch/liaison office establishment to a bank
Step2. Registration of branch/liaison office establishment to the registry office
Step3. Application for business registration to the tax office
1) Once the aforementioned 3 steps are cleared,
you can open a bank account in order to perform business activities in Korea,
and then you can initiate your business.
2) To efficiently set up a branch/liaison office without any delay,
documents must be prepared for each step.
The followings shall be confirmed in order to prepare documents accordingly.
(2) Matters to be confirmed
1) A certificate proving the presence of the HQ of a foreign coprorations
(a registry of the foreign corporation, certificate of its businss registration, articles of incorporations) shall be submitted by e-mail.
Either a registry of the foreign corporation or a certificate of its businss registration must be translated in Korean.
2) Representative of the Korean branch/liaison office
Whether the representative is a foreigner or a Korean
If the representative is a Korean, whether he/she will be staying in Korea during the procedures
3) Address of the Korean branch/liaison office
4) whether there is an agent who will handle the tasks related to establishing a branch/liaison office in Korea on behalf
